When you’re cleaning out your wardrobe, think twice before throwing things away, you’ll be surprised how simply you can revamp those old pieces into cool new threads!
Here are 5 pieces of clothing you can convert to new pieces:
Don’t throw away your old jeans just because you have a new pair! Chop off the legs as short or as long as you like to create a pair of shorties – perfect for summer! I use a cheese grater to give the denim some roughness and cut some holes in them too. You can even stick some studs around the pockets, I can assure you everyone will be asking where they can get a pair!
up an old knit
My favourite way to glam up an old knit is to cut a 1-inch wide strip down the arms (cut from the wrists up to the shoulders) and sew some French style lace (about 3 inches wide) over the top. Super easy and super chic! You can also chop off and replace other areas like the bottom, the back or under the arms along the waist and hip area.
up a t-shirt
So many options here… You can chop off the shoulders to create an off the shoulder top, cut it into a tank top or get creative create a cut-out affect by slashing certain areas such as under the arms in the waist and hip area, or at the back, you can even sew fabric underneath the slashes to add some colour. The options are endless; let your imagination run wild.
dress to a beach wrap
If you have an outdated maxi dress or it’s ruined from a stain or tear, simply cut it into a rectangle, hem the cut edges and voila you have a new beach wrap!
anything to head wear!
You can convert almost anything into a headband or headscarf so think twice before tossing something out! Whether it’s an old shirt, t-shirt or even a dress, you can chop the length you want off and even add some embellishments or tie-dye it!
